Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center to Host 50th Anniversary Open House Celebration

Kansas City, MO— Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center will host the first of two Open House events on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. The non-fundraising event is part of the kickoff of the Health Center’s 50th anniversary celebration, commemorating it’s opening in the Wayne Miner Housing Project in April of 1968.

Founded by the area’s first board-certified, African-American OB/GYN, Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center has a rich history in Kansas City. A safety-net provider with five locations around the metro, as well as multiple in-school clinics, it has been a fixture in Downtown since its launch during the Civil Rights Movement. Known for providing linguistically- and culturally-appropriate care to more than 23,000 patients each year in 38 different languages, the Health Center is the embodiment of Dr. Rodgers’ vision of high quality, compassionate, affordable health care for all.

Wednesday’s Open House will feature a program recounting the Health Center’s history, as well as that of our namesake. Acting CEO Bob Theis will speak about the significance of the 50th anniversary year, as well as our ongoing commitment to caring for Kansas City. After a screening of the mini-documentary The Legacy of Samuel Rodgers, attendees will have the opportunity to experience a visit to the Health Center as through one of our Patient Experience Tours.

The 50th Anniversary Open House Celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18th, from 4 to 7 PM at the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center Downtown Campus, located at 825, Euclid Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
